Hand made forged (hammered) sterling silver and Stainless Steel a Damascus Scroll pendant. Made from a single piece of sterling square bar stock and a piece of hand worked piece of Damascus. The sterling is wrapped around and through a notched corner Of the Damascus steel to create two loops with it ending as a tapered scroll . It has a large sterling silver that bail is made from a thick gauge that’s  hammered into a circle which is attached on the top circle. 

**The Damascus was made in the USA by Vegas Forge in Nevada. I shaped using files and did the finish work.

*what is Damascus?

-Damascus is a type of steel that is made from alternating layers of different types of contrasting steels. It’s stacked together then welded into a single bar by hammering. Then it’s folded in 1/2 many times to take the initial amount of layers (like 5) into 100’s. Then it’s manipulated into a pattern by twisting and other methods. When the finished billet is sliced it exposes that pattern. Finally it’s surface is etched to reveal the two contrasting colors of steel with one being darker than the other. It has the appearance of wood grain.  This beauty is not painted on or engraved its all the way through and what you are seeing is the two metals creating that beauty.  Real pattern welded Damascus is rare , expensive and sought after for its beauty.  Since this pieces has Damascus made from two different types of  stainless Steel. It will not rust nor need and type of special treatment.  


*the Texture being left with the natural  hammer finish from making it using  a hammer and stake anvil. 

*Do I need to worry about treating the Damascus or will it rust ?

-Since the Damascus is is made from stainless Steel and not Carbon Steel it will not rust.
